The 2nd outing of the enigmatic X2SEE label titled “Disco Inferno” comes from the Paris-based French producer Carriego. Very much influenced by the sound of the Uruguayan and British scenes, the artist eloquently describes the concept behind the release: “This EP is slightly different from what I usually do or what I want to produce from now on. The tracks were made at a time where I was a bit obsessed with old school electro breaks, and I tried to borrow the aesthetics of electro and bleep music to make them. The result can sometimes be purposely kitsch and overleaded with elements”

The record opens with “Louis From Detroit”, a track with broken rhythms that delicately balances between electro and acid influences, enhanced by eerie and mysterious undertones. As Carriego explains, “I think Louis from Detroit captures this essence quite effectively through its bassline, vocal chops, rhythm, and melody. The playful title of the track originates from an a tongue-in-cheek nickname that my friends and I bestowed upon one of our friends named Louis. This was during a period when he primarily mixed fast-paced Detroit electro and ghetto house tracks. Therefore, creating this track allowed me to revisit that particular memory, and it was very fun to transform it into the title of the song.”

Don’t snooze on this varied and playful EP, meticulously crafted for the hazy hours of the night. Also, distributed by our good friends from Lirica Archives!
