This new series, called Cross Wiring, explores a world of ambient, experimental, and hypnotic sounds through audio-visual performances featuring only live sets by producers in collaboration with visual artists.

For this first edition, we have a live set from Portuguese producer Apart, who created some of the tracks for this series to provide an emotional listening journey with his only unreleased music. He collaborated with London-based visual artist Insa Visuals, who crafted a liquid colour visual performance that she recorded live, resulting in a complete audio-visual experience for you.

Apart:

When listening to this type of music, the feelings are varied but usually quite intense. I identify more with melancholy and nostalgia. There is immense richness in these feelings and in sadder moments in general. These are great sensations to observe ourselves, appreciate the present moment more, and move toward a better future.

From a creation point of view, this richness is unique as a creative instrument. I use this a lot to place myself in this spectrum of sensations and emotions, trying to recreate the best sound environment to share these proposed feelings with the listener.

There is music that clearly calms me down and reduces stress, but there are also many tense and intense moments that I like to feel and replicate. I feel like music can help us develop a broader emotional spectrum, making us more empathetic and connected. Above all, it serves as a catalyst for our sensory and cognitive evolution.

I believe there must be space and time for all these expressions and the richness they offer, with balance being the secret to this fuller absorption, as in everything in our lives.

Insa Visuals:

This practice brings serenity to my daily life. The intricate details and emerging forms instill hope, reminding me of the world’s abundant beauty. As if by enchantment, all anxiety and stress melt away when I create or encounter my art.

Inspired by the liquid light shows of the 1960s, my technique combines liquid colours, movement, and painting to create flowing visuals that feel alive with music being my companion. Each piece becomes an immersive, meditative experience, inviting a sense of peace and connection.
